Sears Wishbook 1992: Turtle Power Edition

1992 Sears wish book, chock full of turtle goodness.

Born before 2009? Then you probably know all about wish books whether it was from JC Penney, Sears, or Toys R Us. They were spectacular. These were the go-to for your master Christmas gift list, red marker for circling and all.

1992 was a hell of a year especially if you were a TMNT fan. How do I know? Read on:

The first Item on the list, jammies! Whether you are in the market for a totally rad onesie (with feet) or a two-piece set you are all set. Love the illustrations on these.

Tis the Season, For Holiday Ads!

Now that we are officially in December and in the full holiday swing lets start it off right with some vintage department store holiday ads.

Favorite Holiday Movies and Specials

T'Was the night before Christmas... well you all know how it goes. On this Christmas eve I wanted to share a few of my favorite holiday flicks and specials, we all have our own list!

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (original 1966)

Have watched it since I was a wee crooked ninja and nothing has changes. Great story and animation, got to love those specials from the 60's!

League Assignment: Merry Geekmas!

Merry Geekmas everyone!

The photo above captures the essence of Christmas for me; toys, Rankin/Bass, trees, and the holly jolly spirit.

More Leaguers spreading Geekmas joy:

The Dangers of Fun; Deadly Toys of Childhood

When did we need a warning label on everything? I was reading through the 10 dangerous toys for 2012 via W.A.T.C.H.  and couldn't help but chuckle. Some of what made the list include:

Geeks for Tots 2012

So there is this thing called Geeks for Tots I stumbled upon while over at PoeGhostal.com. Basically it is a way to get people or the sub culture of people, geeks, to donate to Toys for Tots for the holidays to make sure every good girl and boy gets something for the holidays, there is also some incentive to do so (read:prizes). Snap some pics of your donations and send to their Facebook and/or Twitter to be entered to win.

Every kid deserves a present and in the last few years I have personally made it a goal to donate what I could to Toys for Tots or the equivalent which is Toys for Kids for my area. Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate is a special time and made more special by receiving something, even the smallest of things can make a difference. I know I was lucky as a child and have great Christmas memories because of it and want to do my part to spread that joy to less fortunate kids. It is doing good and it feels good.

So all my super cool geek blogging or geek minded visitors and friends will you take part and give something to make a kids holiday totally rad? This year I think I have my sights set on donating the entire Nick TMNT figure line (wave 1 and if I can FIND IT wave 1.5). A Donatello under the tree sure made my Christmas back in the day, hopefully I can give that same thing.
