Whats playing in the crooked house?

This weeks League of Extraordinary Bloggers assignments asks "what is on your watch list?".

First things first though I have to say our household has been sans-cable (and recently sans-broadcast TV, screw you Comcast) for quite some time now. Cable TV is a bad model and with so many other options out there why bother. What do we have? Hulu+ and Netflix and a library of ripped (legally) movies. Seems to work okay with the trusty PS3.

The League of Extraordinary Bloggers "Back to School"

Break out your trapper keepers kids, its time to hit the books!

This weeks LoEB goes back to school. Kids hate it, that is until they get old and HAVE to go to work for someone else in most cases then school doesn't seem so bad. Bills and stuff, lame. Let's have a bit of fun shall we?

For this post I want to knock out a top 10 list of fond grade school memories and at the end a short of top 5 of school memories that frankly just suck. Let us begin!

1. Drawing. A Lot of drawing.

I will be honest, most of my notebooks were not filled with class notes but rather class doodles and homemade comics. Why listen to the teach on the overhead projector blab about basic algebra when I could be drawing Batman or making a mini-comic of some oddball monster? Sure I was caught rather often with my face down to the notepad drawing away but after a few years of practice I mastered the fine art of the "casual doodle" or in other terms the doodle where nothing was suspected.

I still have a bunch of old notebooks with junk in them, fun to go back and remember not the class from 1995 but rather that super rad Wolverine drawing I knocked out during Math.

League of Extraordinary Bloggers: Arcade!

This weeks League of Extraordinary Bloggers puts us in control of our dream arcade! Now to be clear I was a big arcade addict during the 90's until every arcade in the country all but died out (kids have NO idea what they are missing). So, what would I fill the crooked arcade with? Get your quarters ready.

What Pop Culture Do You HATE?

South Park.

This weeks League of Extraordinary Bloggers questions begs the question "what pop culture do you hate?" and for me nothing is more obnoxious than South Park.

I tried to like, I did. Back in the late 90's when South Park hit big I tried to jump on the paper-cutout bandwagon but I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy the show. Everyone laughed and praised its genius, its unbiased humor on all topics but I just shrugged it off.

League Assignment "State of the Site"

This week for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers we were asked to post a "state of the site" addressing our own personal website. Well that is a bit tricky since the Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang is only about a month old in blog form, but that won't stop us!

Right now it is going great! Meeting a lot of like-minded bloggers, participating in group blog events, posting random stuff, and having a good time doing it all. So far according to blog stats the most viewed post is by far the Loot Crate unboxing and hey it is interesting to see what was in there. Thanks to all who left some comments it is always interesting knowing what you think.

The future? Well I have been contemplating a move to Wordpress as the blog platform. Why you ask? Well I have experience in Wordpress blog development so the home of the Crooked gang could be more vibrant and custom. The only hang up is hosting and with funds tight at the moment it may be something to shoot for in the future. In the meantime Blogger is as solid a platform as any but the need for more control is always lingering.

The Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang will keep on posting stuff, all kinds of stuff. Hope it has been entertaining so far and thanks for reading!

This Weeks League Assignment: Halloween Costumes

Halloween. A time of goblins, ghosts, candy binges, and costumes! Up above, yeah thats me in 1988 in my homemade Batman costume. It wasn't the greatest or the most flashy but hey the bat symbol was glow-in-the-dark and I had Batman high top sneakers on. This weeks assignment from the League of Extraordinary Bloggers asks "what was your greatest Halloween costume and what do you want to dress up as this year?". Well that half the equation up there, thrown together lovingly by my mother for her Batman-obsessed 4 year old. This year though? Hmmm....
