And 2013 in review.
With 2013 in the rear view mirror it is time to brace ourselves for 2014.
Notable things going on in 2014:
- The new TMNT movie hits theaters this summer August 8th. Brace yourselves.
- The TMNT hit 30 (and so do I) and we will hopefully get a fun 30th celebration for our turtle friends. The 25th anniversary was just so-so.
- Ghostbusters also hit the big 30 mark. 1984 was a rad year!
- We will be getting a crossover on the new TMNT cartoon series. Old meets new with original voice actors!
Predictions:
- Masters of the Universe Classics will dry up and die. Fans are done and we can't even cherry pick any longer. Stick a fork in it.
- The TMNT fever will grow even more. Expect a lot more excitement this year and kids/adults alike ringing in a new wave of turtle power.
- Cool and Collected magazine is going to blow up.
- Indy toys will continue to amaze us.
- Six inch figures will continue to trend downward as 3-4" figures trend up. Overall action figures will decline in popularity.
2013 in Brief:
- Cracked 100 posts here on the blog.
- Purchased the highly anticipated MOTUC Castle Grayskull and TMNT Sewer Lair playsets.
- Helped in a small way with Cool & Collected magazine.
- Was disappointed by the launch of the Ouya.
- Top games played: Tomb Raider, Animal Crossing New Leaf, WWE 2K14
- Top movies watched: Man of Steel, Iron Man 3, World War Z
- Top toys of 2013 coming soon
Overall 2013 was a decent year. We got some surprises and some disappointments. Let's see what 2014 has in store for us! How was your 2013? Expect something crazy rad in 2014? Let me know in the comments.

I forgot all about the TMNT movie! Excited and scared at the same time. A part of me wishes they'd just re-release the perfection of the first one but that's my nostalgia goggles at work :) Do you meant the classic He-Man toys don't sell anymore or?
ReplyDeleteThe original TMNT movie can never be beat, it was perfect. A re-release in theaters would be incredible!
ReplyDeleteAs the He-Man they did a run of new toys the last few years called Master of the Universe Classics based off the original 80's stuff: http://www.mattycollector.com/store/matty/en_US/DisplaySubCategoryProductListPage/ThemeID.1298800/categoryID.12422000
The vintage stuff will always sell though.
